Amber Rainey - Répétiteur

Biography

After completing her Honours Degree at Auckland University, New Zealand born pianist Amber Rainey moved to London and gained a master’s degree in Chamber Music and Song at the GSMD.

Amber was awarded First Scholar in Performance on leaving Auckland University and she has since performed throughout New Zealand as part of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and with Chamber Music New Zealand.

Amber holds a Fellowship from the GSMD and, in 2010, she won the conservatoire’s Piano Accompaniment Competition. She has accompanied prize-winning singers in the Gerald Moore Award and in the Jackdaws Competition at the Wigmore Hall.

Amber’s operatic experience includes performing Britten’s Albert Herring and Monteverdi’s Coronation of Poppea at the GSMD on their Introduction to Opera Course, performing in Garsington’s Community Opera Road Rage, a concert recital for New Zealand Opera soloists and working for British Youth Opera’s The Secret Marriage by Cimarosa. Most recently Amber was Music Director for Opera View’s double bill of Holst’s Savitri and Mozart’s Bastien et Bastienne.

Amber’s NOS training is supported by the Amar-Franses and Foster-Jenkins Trust and by Christopher Ball.
