Cristian is 20 years old and is currently in his third year studying as an undergraduate at the Royal Academy of Music, having been awarded the Arthur Lyons Scholarship to continue his studies with the legendary French virtuoso Maurice Hasson until his recent retirement. Cristian now receives tuition from Giovanni Guzzo, also a Hasson protégé and is also under the guidance of Tasmin Little and Maxim Vengerov.
Cristian made his solo debut with an Orchestra aged 14 performing at St James's Piccadilly and has since enjoyed performing as a soloist in many other prestigious concert halls in the UK and abroad. Most notably chamber music at the Wigmore Hall, Kings Place and solo recitals in St Martins in the Field, St James’s Picadilly and the Benslow and Leeds International Concert series. Concerto appearances at the Corn Exchange in Bedford, Milton Keynes, Aldeburgh and in the Dukes Hall at the Royal Academy of Music after having been awarded first prize in the Junior Academy Concerto Competition.
After having appeared as a finalist on the televised BBC Young Musician of the Year 2012 Competition, a sonata was composed for Cristian by the up and coming British composer Oliver Davis.
Cristian was awarded First Prize at the Groba International Violin Competition 2015 in Spain and was also a finalist in the Royal Overseas Competition 2014.
Cristian has been invited to perform in many Master classes, most notably with Sylvia Rosenberg, Olivier Charlier, Virgine Robillard, Tasmin Little and the legendary Maxim Vengerov.
Future engagements in the 2015-16 season include performances of the Sibelius Concerto in Abergavenny and Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in St Albans and also performing at the Hinchingbrooke and LSE International Concert Series in the UK. He will be performing with the Galician Chamber Orchestra in summer 2016 and giving Chamber Music recitals in Madrid, Spain.
Cristian plays on a 1800 Giuseppe Gagliano violin, kindly on loan from the Royal Academy of Music.
