Neo Hung - Piano


Neo Hung started his first piano lesson at the tender age of 6 in Hong Kong and held his first solo piano recital at 13. He entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts two years afterwards under the tutelage of Steinway Artist Julie Kuok. He is currently studying piano with Dina Parakhina, and harpsichord with Robert Woolley, at the Royal College of Music London, with a full scholarship awarded by the HKSAR government for both his outstanding academic and artistic performances.

Neo has also gained inspiration from musicians such as Menno van Delft, Enrico Elise, Inna Faliks, Sofya Gulyak, James Giles, Niel Immelman, Marina Lomazov, Ian Jones, Gabriel Kwok, Stefan Stroissnig, Agnes Wan, and Eleanor Wong.

In summer 2023, Neo will make his concerto debut in the Festival Internacional de Piano de Málaga (Spain) with Schumann’s Piano Concerto, and Music Fest Perugia (Italy) with Chopin’s Piano Concerto no.1. He has also performed in venues worldwide including Yale University (USA), Austrian Cultural Forum (Austrian Embassy) London (UK), Amalfi Coast Music & Arts Festival (Italy), and major venues across his home city, such as the Hong Kong City Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong Space Museum and Hong Kong Arts Centre.

He is a prizewinner in the 10th Zhongsin International Music Competition (China), the Fifth Japan-Hong Kong International Music Competition (Japan), Internationaler Bonn Klassik Klavierwettbewerb (Germany), Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival, Hong Kong Music Talent and Performance Award, among many others. He was awarded a second prize and Gold Award in the 73rd Hong Kong Music Schools Music Festival for his much-acclaimed performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.1.

In 2018, he was invited to appear on RTHK by the pianist Nancy Loo in the “Children’s Corner” programme after participating in a musical curated by the award-winning composer Dr Pui-Shan Cheung.
