Biography
Born in Florence, Italy, pianist Giulia Contaldo completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with highest honors and special mention in piano at Florence’s “Luigi Cherubini” Conservatory. Since 2012, Giulia studied at Imola International Piano Academy with Jin Ju where she completed her artist diploma in 2019. She has recently completed the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Piano Performance with distinction at the RNCM with Graham Scott and Dina Parakhina thanks to the support of the Helen Mackaness Award and has been accepted on the prestigious International Artist Diploma programme, which will include a solo debut with the BBC Philharmonic.
Giulia has received numerous prizes, including first prizes at the 28th J.S. Bach Italian National Competition, at the Gradus ad Musicum Certamen Competition, at the 15th International Maria Giubilei Piano Competition with an award to the Mozarteum Sommerakademie, prizes at the Prémio Internacional de Piano Figueira da Foz (Portugal), Massarosa International Piano Competition, the 32nd Concours Européen de Musique de Chambre (Paris). She has recently won the Concerto Competition, the Piano Duo Prize of the RNCM and was awarded the Gold Medal of the College. Most recently she was awarded the third prize and audience prize at the James Mottram International Piano Competition, performing with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. She was also one of the pianists chosen to participate in the first round of the Leeds International Piano Competition in April 2021.
Giulia performs regularly throughout the UK and Europe and has recently performed Beethoven’s Concerto no. 4 with the Manchester Camerata and RNCM Symphony Orchestra.
