Eleanor Penfold - Soprano

Biography

Winner of the Schubert Song Prize (London Song Festival), soprano Eleanor Penfold graduated from the Royal College of Music as a Ruth West Scholar.

Eleanor has performed at the Opéra Bastille, Paris (Naïade/Bergère in Rameau’s Les Fêtes d’Hébé), with English Touring Opera (Vénus in Rameau’s Dardanus and Soprano 2 in Bach B minor) and with Waterperry Opera Festival (Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni).

Eleanor is a Britten-Pears Young Artist and ENOA Young Artist and Iford New Generation Artist and was described in Opera Magazine as having ‘the vocal equipment to dazzle’ (Roger Neill). Eleanor is also grateful for the support of Talent Unlimited. This year Eleanor has made her role debut as Königin der Nacht (Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte) with Hurn Court Opera and Waterperry Opera Festival. Later this year she will be performing a concert tour of contemporary works across the UK called Try Me, Good King with her newly founded ensemble Transposed and looks forward to performing the role of Elle in Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine in Spring 2020.
