Alexandra Stenson - Soprano

Biography

Alexandra Stenson is an English Soprano of Irish descent, born in Nottinghamshire. She is a graduate of the Guildhall School Of Music and Drama and English National Opera’s prestigious Opera Works training programme.

Alexandra is thrilled to be an Opera Awards Bursary Recipient 2017/18 and an Ionian Singers Bursary Recipient 2018.

Alexandra is currently playing Tatyana for Opera Up Close’s UK tour of Eugene Onegin and recently played Despina for Opera Holland Park‘s Cover Scheme.

Opera roles include; Claretta Zaza Opera Holland Park, The Aunt Madama Butterfly Bury Court Opera, Fox (cover) The Cunning Little Vixen British Youth Opera, Dorinda Orlando and Servilia La Clemenza di Tito ENO Opera Works, Beatrice Beatrice et Bénédict, Frasquita Carmen and Cis Albert Herring GSMD Opera Scenes,and Lauretta Gianni Schicchi Irrational Theatre Company.

Opera Chorus work includes The Flying Dutchman Opera North, La Traviata, Cosí fan tutti, Kat’a Kabanova, Iris, La Boheme and Queen of Spades for Opera Holland Park.

Alexandra is also an experienced chorister; a current member of the Philharmonia Chorus and the Ionian Singers and an ex member of Cantamus Girls Choir, she has sung all over the world. Venues include the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Barbican Hall in London and venues in Spain, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Singapore and Malaysia.

Alexandra is also grateful to Mansfield District Council, The Selston Music Festival, Derek Wileman and William Morris. Special thanks go to the late Serena Fenwick, sponsor, mentor, and friend.

Upcoming appearances include Tatyana for Opera Up Close at Derby, Ipswich and London, the Big Christmas Lights Switch On at Mansfield Market Place and Amadeus at the Royal Albert Hall.
